August was a successful month where we found lots of beautiful things. We mapped out a route through East Brabant where we came home with a trunk full of stuff, we accidentally ran into my regular bargains at the Friday market in Arnhem, embroidered roses, and we succeeded at Stichting Van Meij, which I visited to supplement the shopping route in Velp. All details about the thrift store finds read you in this blog.
Circle Route East Brabant
During our very successful circular route through eastern Brabant we came back with a trunk full of stuff. That's why it's one of our favorite routes. Many of the items were on our wish list and we take you through my thrift store finds:
1. Drawing boxes
Scored at both Circle Uden as at Kringloop Geluk Gennep. Since I've been drawing for as long as I've been alive and went completely back to my high school days, where I had one of those by myself, of course I couldn't leave these out. Out finally I bought 4 that day, now I have to fill them.
2. Tomado wire baskets
These are for in my Lundia cabinets, purchased at The Zusseschuur in Zeeland. Quite some time ago I bought an orange one for the low-board Lundia cabinet in the living room. Since then I actually always buy them when I see them, it's so practical. This way you can still fill that empty space in your closet. This day I bought 4 more and I am completely happy with them again.
3. CP Colditz Tableware
I bought these to complement what I already bought earlier this year, coincidentally also at the same store Kringloop MaGe in Heijen. Paid a good price for then and now this addition again not expensive! Now I may have a bit much crockery for us with 2 people. But I was so happy with it and thought if something breaks I have extra. Hopefully I will find extra breakfast plates because I only have 4.
4. Cups and Dishes
Several sets of cups and saucers for the office, including one set from CP Colditz. The one set purchased at Overlangel Circle Foundation and the other set of Circle Uden. Our new office was still missing matching cups, so these were high on the wish list. With their simple design, they are business-like enough and therefore fit well into our colorful yet sleek office interior.
5. Flower pots
Flower pots purchased at Circle Luck Gennep, actually we had seen these for my neighbor. But she couldn't think of a place for them, in the end I thought they were perfect for the office. So these also went home with me and now they are shining in the office.

Friday Market Arnhem
On a wonderfully sunny Friday, we took a tour of the city and the market. Where we browsed through fabrics, had a cup of coffee and eventually ran into the vintage stalls. I always forget those stalls are there too and they can be a nice addition to an afternoon of thrifting in Arnhem Centrum. At one of the stalls were these 3 frames with embroidered roses. I am really a huge fan of these things, don't ask me why, somewhere they are nice and bitchy. But they also have something cool just like the traditional tattooed roses. Besides, I think they are lovely fillers for my gallery wall in the living room.
They also came in handy, as I hadn't found any in a while and to keep the wall balanced, it was time to hang some roses again.

Van Meij Foundation
One of many smaller thrift stores in Velp. I visited this store to see the shopping route east Arnhem & Velp complete and pick up nightstands I had seen online. Although the store is quite small, I am sharing no less than 2 good thrift store finds here this month.
1. Vintage Wool Blanket
Also something that always scores well with us when we recycle. In my case, I was still missing a matching blanket for the bedroom that is currently undergoing a makeover. Here I go for 'Choco Chique' look with wood and brown tones.
2. Nightstands
This makeover included new bedside tables, previously there were IKEA Nikkeby cabinets here, now that we are going for a warmer atmosphere with reused items these had really become an eyesore. Via marketplace I saw these nice antique cabinets, which made the visit to the Van Meij Foundation worthwhile. The cabinets still need some TLC but that will come. For now they look better than the IKEA cabinets.
3. Embroidered Rose
Yes, there they are again. Actually, I always take these when I see them. The only criteria I have for this is that the colors should somewhat match the rest. I paid €5 for this rose, well at the upper end of what I think is a reasonable price. But in terms of size it is larger than average and I really needed new roses again.
